About Me

For 20 years, my passion has been helping children and families to overcome challenges with positive results.

My journey began in 2002 with the completion of my masters program in Counseling at the University of Memphis. My mental health experience is varied with services in the home, outpatient and inpatient settings.

While continuing to work part time, I focused on growing my own family. My husband and I have three wonderful children 17 , 15 and 12 years old. During this time, I received training to become a Registered Play Therapist.

My experience has allowed me to provide individual and family therapy to children, adolescents and adults. I specialize in working with children 3-12 years old through play therapy.

Specializing in Play and Family Therapy

Play Therapy

Play Therapy is helpful in allowing a child to express themselves fully through their play.

Benefits of play therapy are improved communication and self esteem; building of emotional regulation and problem solving skills.

Play therapy gives your child a safe space to discover their unique abilities.  Your child will learn skills to overcome challenges they are struggling with.

I have received training in traditional Child Centered Play Therapy as well as Prescriptive Play Therapy. I am also certified in Autplay, which is a play therapy and behavioral therapy-based approach for treating autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, and developmental disabilities.

As your child's therapist, I offer support, guidance and emotional regulation through the process.

Family Therapy

Family strengths is a major focus of my work with you and your family.  Each family I work with is unique in its ability to work through difficult problems and transitions.  We will spend time exploring each member's unique strengths as well as the family as a whole.  A Family Systems approach focuses on each family member and the role that person plays in the family. As your family therapist, I view each member as a valuable asset. We will work together to improve healthy and effective communication and problem solving for the whole family.

Teens and Adults

Teens and adults are faced with difficult life transitions and require a skillful therapist. By using a strengths based approach, together we can discover your unique assets that can help you to successfully overcome many obstacles. A mindfulness practice can be a powerful pathway toward meeting your therapy goals.

I am also trained in EMDR to assist with making positive changes.

Sand Tray Therapy

Sand tray therapy is a unique modality for all ages and can help a person to gain insight and clarity.  Sometimes we don't have the words to communicate our experiences fully.

Sand tray therapy can be a helpful tool to express ourselves. Sand tray offers a sensory experience by movement of the sand with your hands and by placing symbolic figures in the sand.
